A reason to watch the Super Bowl.

I'm amazed at how many people I have heard from in the past two days about this video.

No way does this have anything to do with a sequel to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. As has been revealed in the past 24 hours, this appears to be a teaser for a commercial or series of commercials for Honda set to air on Super Bowl Sunday.

Aside from the countless reporters and bloggers who have tried unsuccessfully to quote various parts of the movie in their writing about this clip, my reaction is simple...

Seriously. This is what I've been waiting on. Not a full-fledged sequel but a modern-day glance at what became of Ferris Bueller.

My opinion may change once I actually see these commercials or learn more about what's behind this short ten-second clip, but on the surface, this is awesome.

Of course, that tiny bit of Oh Yeah got stuck in my head after watching the teaser clip a few dozen times. Then I couldn't quit thinking about this:

One thing I came upon in looking around for information on this clip was "Ferris Bueller's Last Day Off" -- a short sketch compliments of Sidecar Comedy. I didn't start watching this sketch with very high hopes but I was pleasantly surprised. It's actually pretty funny...

Now that you've got Ferris Bueller on your brain, feel free to take a look back through the other posts about Ferris here on FASTE:
Day bow bow.

Etta James, Warner, and a book.

1. Etta James? I won't pretend she was this huge influence on me or even a musician I listened to often. But she did have one song that I'll always love.

2. Jason and the Scorchers were fantastic (as expected). This was the second time I had seen them live and it was clear evidence that the phenomenal show they put on the first time was no fluke. Having met Jason Ringenberg before, I was hoping to shake hands with guitar genius Warner Hodges at this show. Mission accomplished...

3. Football schmootball. Actually, sports schmorts. I'm a Cubs fan. I'm a Knicks fan. And I'm an Eagles fan. My teams do not care about winning.

4. I've recently been introduced to the writing of Bo Lozoff. Not since reading Brennan Manning's Ragamuffin Gospel have I been so inspired and moved by a book. I would recommend Lozoff's Deep and Simple to anyone with even the smallest amount of spirituality in their lives.

5. Why didn't anyone ever tell me how awesome 30 Rock is? Thanks to Netflix streaming, I've been catching up on five seasons of missed hilarity. This show almost reaches Arrested Development levels of funny.

JTE, Scorchers, and a Leaf.

For anyone who actually reads this blog, you probably get very tired of me talking about Justin Townes Earle. Unfortunately for you, he's got a new album coming out soon so my chatter won't be dying down any time soon.

If you're interested, you can download the title track on Justin's website. Stay tuned for continued excitement about this album.
Jason and the Scorchers tomorrow night...
There's a leaf on the tree in my front yard that won't fall off.
Seriously. It's January and we've had multiple days of high wind, rain, and even snow last night. This sucker is still hanging on.
I don't mention this to try and be inspirational or tell you to hold on for tomorrow or anything like that. I just think it's cool. Especially since this happens every year in the exact same spot on this tree. All of the leaves fall except for one in this same spot. One leaf hangs on until late in the winter when it's finally had enough.

That's all.
