Day 17: Tom Sawyer, Chutes and Ladders, Blackhawks

I've been reading Tom Sawyer -- not the condensed kiddie version but the original Tom Sawyer -- and I've come to one conclusion. Tom Sawyer was the ultimate inspiration for Ferris Bueller.

Really. They both worked hard at avoiding hard work. They were both charmingly conniving -- but in a harmless way. Regardless of generation, readers/viewers live vicariously through these characters.

Anyway, just an observation.

The kids started a week of VBS today which left Amy and I with a few hours of not knowing what to do with ourselves.

Coffee. That's what people do when they don't know what else to do.

With the kids in bed last night, Amy and I decided to play a game. I was in the mood for something simple that didn't require a lot of thought and I got was I bargained for.

The biggest news of the day was that we got an offer on our house so it looks like our own house search will kick into high gear in a hurry. We've not settled everything with the buyers but after their offer and (what I consider to be) a pretty generous counter-offer on our part, we're close. Really close.

And Blackhawks fans...congratulations. I don't really give a crap about hockey but congratulations.

Here's Rush's Tom Sawyer because it's awesome.

The Summer of Tim continues...
