After documenting two consecutive summers through daily posts on this site, I wanted to take that "responsibility" off my plate for 2016. Then I went back and read through two years of posts and I knew immediately I’d be right back at it again this summer. How great it is to remember the fun things we've done, the nonsense that's run through my mind, and to see how much our kids have changed from one year to the next.
It's a family album, if you will. Only with a small audience.
So with that...here I am. Green-lighting the Summer of Tim v.2K16.
My students still have two days of final exams on Monday and Tuesday, then I have an in-service day on Wednesday with a few loose ends to tie up on Thursday. Technically, my break doesn’t start until that's all done, but I can't help myself -- with only a few easy workdays to wrap up, I’m already in full-on summer mode. In my estimation, summer break is underway now.
The coming summer has plenty in store -- weddings, vacation, a successful Chicago Cubs roster, working in a new yard and on a new house, plans to see one of my favorite bands from high school, and the celebration (?) of a milestone birthday.
[Ugh. The milestone birthday. Let's not talk about that. F'real.]
Eighty days this time around, folks! Hope to have you along for the ride!
Cheers to you! Cheers to another Summer of Tim!
Random notes from today...
- When mom is gone for a few hours in the evening, dinner with dad consists of corndogs, chicken nuggets, French fries, and root beer. The kids plan to tell her we had fruit salad.
- I bought three used CDs today for 50 cents each. I would bet any amount of money that I will never listen to any of them again after today.
- There is a pair of underwear in the ditch across the street from my house. It's been there for weeks. I see it every day when I get the mail.
