Day 17: Date Night, A Mowing Partner, Ferris Bueller Theories

Tonight was date night for Amy and me. Nothing fancy. Just a bite to eat at a local place we'd been meaning to try, a walk through the nearby forest preserve, and a long-way drive through the country on the way home.

. . .

Amy has been saying lately that she wants to learn how to use our lawnmower -- an idea I would welcome as it would cut my yard work time in half by freeing me up to do other stuff around the yard. I guess the stars were aligned perfectly today because as I was mowing the back yard, I turned and there she stood -- ready to learn.

Little does she know that she's now signed herself up for a lifetime of yard work -- and I didn't even have to Tom Sawyer her into it by telling her how much fun she'd have!

. . .

One of my favorite movies -- Ferris Bueller's Day Off -- turns 30 in a few days. This afternoon, I spent entirely too much time thinking about this movie.

A lot of people will tell you that it was this date -- June 5th -- 31 years ago that the movie supposedly took place.

In my opinion, a lot of people are wrong.
