Day 48: Forty.

I've never been one to make a big deal out of my birthday and despite the fact that I think my wife wanted to plan an elaborate party to celebrate my 40th, I tried to be straightforward that low key was my preference.

And low key is exactly what I got.

Breakfast at the Hen House...

Wonderfully creative homemade gifts from the kids...

And an evening visit from my brother and sister-in-law who joined Amy and me for a birthday tour of some local breweries...

I could fill countless lines with my personal reflections on turning 40...but I won't.

Instead, I want to offer my thanks.

Thanks to Amy for a perfectly low key celebration. Thanks to Matt and Joli for joining us. And thanks to my friends and family both near and far.

This is not an obligatory thanks but an honest-to-God thanks to you for being a part of my life.

I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
